OUR DOCTRINAL CONVICTIONS

What We Believe

These summaries express the biblical convictions that guide our family’s ministry with Rock of Ages Ministries. They are drawn from the ministry’s doctrinal agreement and are presented here under the same topics for convenient reading.

The Scriptures

We believe the sixty-six books of the Bible are God-breathed, inerrant, infallible, and the final authority for faith and life. We receive and use the King James Version as God’s divinely preserved Word for English-speaking people and interpret Scripture according to its grammatical and historical meaning.

2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21
God the Father

We believe in one eternal God, existing in three distinct, coequal persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each is fully divine, equal in power and glory, and perfect in every attribute.

Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14
God the Son — Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God and was born of the virgin Mary. He died on the cross as the substitute for sinners, rose bodily from the dead, ascended to Heaven, and now serves as our High Priest, Intercessor, and Advocate.

John 1:1–14; 1 Peter 2:24; Acts 1:9–10
God the Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is fully God, who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He works in regeneration, indwells and seals believers, and teaches and empowers them for holy living and service. We do not regard speaking in tongues as a necessary sign of His baptism or filling.

John 16:8–11; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:12–14; Ephesians 5:18
Mankind and Sin

We believe God created mankind in His image. Through Adam’s sin, humanity fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God. No person can remedy his lost condition through his own efforts.

Genesis 1:26–27; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12
The Devil

We believe Satan is a real personal being, an enemy of God and mankind who was involved in the fall of man. He will ultimately receive eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire.

Job 1:6–7; Matthew 25:41
Salvation

We believe salvation is God’s gift of grace, received through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose blood was shed at Calvary for our sins. Repentance is necessary and involves turning in heart from sin to Jesus Christ under the conviction of God’s Word and Spirit. Those who are truly saved are kept secure in Christ forever by God’s power.

John 1:12; Ephesians 2:8–10; Acts 3:19; John 10:27–30
Eternity

We believe Heaven and Hell are literal places and that all people will be raised bodily: the saved to everlasting life with Christ, and the lost to everlasting judgment. We believe Christ will receive His Church before the seven-year Tribulation and will return personally and visibly to establish His earthly, millennial kingdom.

John 5:28–29; Matthew 25:46; 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18
The Local Church

We believe a local church is an autonomous assembly of born-again believers under the authority of Christ and His Word. We recognize baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper as the two ordinances given to the church.

Acts 2:41–42; Acts 13:1–4; Matthew 28:19–20
Biblical Separation

We believe Christians should live in a manner that honors the Saviour, separating from sin, worldly practices, and religious apostasy, and setting themselves apart unto God for His glory and the furtherance of the Gospel.

2 Corinthians 6:14–17; Ephesians 5:1–14
The Gospel and Christian Service

We believe every Christian is called to witness for Jesus Christ, and that the local church is entrusted with the Great Commission to proclaim the Gospel to all peoples. Believers should faithfully serve the Lord, support their local church through tithes and offerings, and help advance the Gospel.

Matthew 28:19–20; Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 16:2
Marriage and Family

We believe God created mankind male and female and established marriage as the lifelong, exclusive union of one man and one woman. Sexual intimacy belongs only within that marriage. We believe human life is sacred from conception through natural death, and that God offers forgiveness and restoration through Jesus Christ.

Genesis 1:26–27; Genesis 2:18–25; Hebrews 13:4; Psalm 139
